2019 Cosmo Trivia

Some fun anecdotes, stats, and trivia about the winners and other nominees of the 2019 Cosmique Movie Awards. Check out the complete list of 2019 nominees and winners.

  • Little Women received 11 nominations, the most nominations of any film at the 2019 Cosmique Movie Awards. Unfortunately, it did not win any awards, making it also the biggest shutout of the year. The largest shutout in Cosmo history was The Departed, which lost all 12 of its nominations.
  • Rocketman won four awards this year, the most of any 2019 film. Five films tied for second place with three awards each: Knives Out, Midsommar, Parasite, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Under the Silver Lake.
  • Rocketman’s four wins gives it a tie with eight other films for the fewest wins for a top-winning film of the year. But of the others, only one – The Favourite (2018) – was the sole top winner of four awards their year.
  • Parasite continued two traditions usually (but not always) held by the Best Film winner: it also won Best Director, and it won Best Drama – the only three awards that Parasite won. The Best Film winner usually also wins one of the two top genre awards, Best Drama or Best Comedy.
  • Scarlett Johansson received three individual nominations, the most individual nominations of anyone at the 2019 Cosmique Movie Awards. This brings her total individual nominations to 17, of which she has won five, including two won in 2019. She also shares in two ensemble nominations this year, bringing her total ensemble nominations to 8. (Cate Blanchett, who did not receive any nominations this year, continues to hold the individual record with 21 individual nominations, including 6 individual wins.)
  • A total of 82 films received nominations this year. Of these, 33 received one nomination while 49 received multiple nominations. Only one, Little Women, received double-digit nominations.
  • A total of 103 individuals received nominations this year. Of them, one person got three nominations, nine got two nominations, and the remaining 93 received one nomination.
  • Of the 103 individuals who received individual nominations this year, 51 had never received an individual nomination before this year.
  • Of all actors who have ever received a Cosmo nomination in the history of the awards, 76 of them share in an ensemble nomination for 2019. Four of them – Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Al Pacino, and Margot Robbie – were each in two different films that received ensemble nominations.
  • Of the 2019 films that received Ensemble nominations this year, Avengers: Endgame has the largest cast that has ever had individual nominations. A total of 31 cast members have also had individual nominations, though most were for for non-Avengers films. Three films tied for second with seven individual nominees each in their casts: Charlie’s Angels (2019), Knives Out, and Little Women.
  • Avengers: Endgame’s nominated ensemble cast with 31 individuals who’ve ever had an individual nomination broke the previous record held by Avengers: Infinity War, which had 23 ensemble-nominated cast members with previous individual nominations. Avengers: Age of Ultron had 13 ensemble cast members who have also had previous individual nominations, while The Grand Budapest Hotel had 12 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 had 11. Rounding out the double-digit ensemble list are The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, X2: X-Men United, 12 Years a Slave, and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice with 10 each.
