Synopsis

After another one-year gap, we got back on track with the 2012 Awards.

Lincoln was the big winner of the 2012 Cosmique Movie Awards, winning five of its 13 nominations, including Best Film, Best Actor (Daniel Day-Lewis), Best Supporting Actor (Tommie Lee Jones), Best Drama, and Best Historical.

But in a rare split, it did not win Best Director, which instead went to Ben Affleck for Argo. The winners of these awards have been split only twice before: in 2004, when Million Dollar Baby won Best Film but Martin Scorsese won Best Director for The Aviator, and in 2010 when The King’s Speech won Best Film while Christopher Nolan won Best Director for Inception.

Other top acting awards went to Jennifer Lawrence for Best Actress in Silver Linings Playbook, Anne Hathaway for Best Supporting Actress in Les Miserables, and Quvenzhané Wallis for Best Young Actor or Actress in Beasts of the Southern Wild – a category brought out of its 10-year retirement after its only previous use in 2002.

Dangerous Liaisons, the 1988 historical drama starring Glenn Close, was inducted into the Best Films of All Time Hall of Fame. Elizabeth Taylor and Peter O’Toole were inducted into their respective Best Acting Halls of Fame, while Whoopi Goldberg, Goldie Hawn, and Mel Brooks were inducted into the Comedic Acting Halls of Fame.
