Synopsis

Promising Young Woman won six of its 12 Cosmo nominations at the 2020 Cosmique Movie Awards, including Best Picture, Best Drama, Best Script, and Best Actress for Carey Mulligan.

It also won awards for Favorite Female Empowerment Film, as well as a Best Male Cameo Award for Adam Brody.

Tenet won five awards while Wonder Woman 1984 (the top-nominated film of the year) and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom each won three awards. Birds of Prey, Judas and the Black Messiah, The Boys in the Band (2020), The King of Staten Island, and Spree each won two awards, while 14 other films won one award each.

Chadwick Boseman posthumously won Best Actor for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, while Supporting awards went to Glenn Close for Hillbilly Elegy and Daniel Kaluuya for Judas and the Black Messiah.

Paris is Burning, the 1990 documentary about the Black and Latino LGBTQ ballroom scene in New York, was inducted into the Best Films of All Time Hall of Fame, becoming the first documentary to be inducted. Cloris Leachman was inducted into the Best Actresses Hall of Fame. She had previously been inducted into the Best Comedic Actresses Hall of Fame at the 2010 Awards. Roddy McDowell, a first-time nominee, was inducted into the Best Actors Hall of Fame, while Ted Knight and Thelma Ritter were inducted into the respective Comedic Actors and Actresses Halls of Fame.
