2020 Cosmo schedule announced

COVID-19 has thrown off the entire movie industry, and the movie awards industry has similarly been affected.

We previously announced changed that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has made to the 2021 Oscars, including allowing some streaming films that bypassed theaters entirely. Another change was extending the eligibility year through February 28, 2021, instead of strictly following the calendar year.

The Cosmique Movie Awards will follow the Academy’s eligibility requirements to avoid confusion and to allow Cosmo voters to react with and against the Oscars. We will release official eligibility lists closer to the time to vote.

Here, then, is the revised awards season schedule:

  • December 18, 2020 – NY Film Critics Circle Awards
  • January 18, 2021 – San Francisco Bay Area Film Critics
  • February 3, 2021 – Golden Globe nominations announced
  • February 9, 2021 – Oscar shortlists announced
  • February 16, 2021 – Writers Guild of America nominations announced
  • February 28, 2021 – Golden Globe winners announced
  • March 8, 2021 – Visual Effects Society nominations announced
  • March 9, 2021 – Directors Guild of America Awards nominations announced
  • March 14, 2021 – Screen Actors Guild awards announced
  • March 15, 2021 – Oscar nominations announced
  • March 21, 2021 – Writers Guild of America awards
  • March 24, 2021 – Producers Guild of America awards
  • April 4, 2021 – Screen Actors Guild nominations announced
  • April 10, 2021 – Directors Guild of America winners announced
  • April 24, 2021 – Independent Spirit Award winners announced
  • April 25, 2021 – Oscar winners announced
  • April 25, 2021 – Cosmo nominations open
  • May 28, 2021 – Deadline to submit Cosmo nominations
  • June 4, 2021 – Cosmo nominations announced, final voting begins
  • July 2, 2021 – Deadline to vote for Cosmo winners
  • July 5, 2021 – Cosmo winners announced
