In Memorium: Chadwick Boseman (1976-2020)

Cosmo-nominated actor Chadwick Boseman (November 29, 1976 – August 28, 2020) has passed away after a four-year private battle with colon cancer. He was 43.

Boseman’s breakout role came eleven years after his first credit when he starred as Jackie Robinson in 42 about the trail-blazing baseball legend. He also played civil rights attorney and future U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall in Marshall, but he’s best known for playing T’Challa/Black Panther, the superhero king of a fictional African country in Black Panther and other films in the Marvel cinematic universe.

He made his debut as the superhero Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War in 2016 before starring in Black Panther in 2018. The film received 17 Cosmo nominations, including Best Film of 2018, and Boseman received three personal nominations for the film, including Best Actor. He reprised his role as T’Challa/Black Panther in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

During this whole period, he was bravely and quietly undergoing chemotherapy for colon cancer, which was not publicly disclosed before his death.

He received three individual nominations at the Cosmique Movie Awards and shares in one ensemble awards out of his three ensemble nominations.
