In Memorium: Diana Rigg (1938-2020)

Dame Diana Rigg (20 July 1938 – 10 September 2020) passed away this morning in her home in London after a brief battle with cancer. She was 82.

She shot to fame in 1965 starring as Emma Peel in the British television series The Avengers, which ran through 1968. Then in 1969, she co-starred opposite George Lazenby in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service playing Countess Teresa (Tracy) di Vicenzo, the only Bond girl to marry James Bond (which necessitated killing her off in the end so Bond could remain a womanizing bachelor).

But she may be best remembered by Cosmo audiences for her portrayal of Lady Olenna Tyrell in the HBO series Game of Thrones.

At the 2019 Cosmique Movie Awards, she received her first Cosmo nomination, a Lifetime Achievement Best Actresses of All Time nomination. The award was won posthumously by Madeline Kahn.
