In Memorium: Ian Holm (1931-2020)

Legendary actor Ian Holm has passed away in London from conditions related to Parkinson’s disease. He was 88 years old.

Holm was nominated for an Oscar for Chariots of Fire (1981). He won a Cosmo Award for Best Villain at the 2001 Awards for From Hell.

But he is best remembered to Cosmo audiences for his performance as Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, for which he shares in two ensemble awards and three more ensemble nominations.

He shared in the Best Ensemble wins for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003). For the latter, he also shares a Sexiest Ensemble nomination. He also shares in Best Ensemble nominations for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012).

His final film appearance was in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014), which won three out of seven Cosmo nominations, but did not receive an Ensemble nomination.

He is also well known to Cosmo audiences as the android Ash in Alien (1979). The film has received two Cosmo nominations.
