Everything Everywhere All at Once was the big winner at the 2022 Cosmique Movie Awards, winning six of its 18 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress (Michelle Yeoh), Best Supporting Actress (Jamie Lee Curtis), and Best Supporting Actor (Ke Huy Quan).
But though many of the results resembled those of the Academy Awards held earlier this year, there were some surprises. Curtis’ Supporting Actress win was shared with Angela Bassett for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the second biggest winner of the night, winning four of its seven nominations. And in another deviation from the Oscars, the Best Director award went to Todd Field for Tár.
Rounding out the top awards, the Best Actor Cosmo went to Brendan Fraser for The Whale.
Amadeus (1984) was inducted into the Best Films of All Time Hall of Fame. The Halls of Fame winners for Best Actress and Actor went to Viola Davis and Donald Sutherland, respectively, while the respective Comedic Halls of Fame went to Jennifer Coolidge and Buster Keaton.
For only the second time in Cosmo history (the first was in 2004), the Best by Genre winners were completely dispersed, with no film winning more than one genre award.
A total of 25 films won one or more awards. Those that won more than one award include: Everything Everywhere All at Once won 6 of 18 nominations; Black Panther: Wakanda Forever won 4 of 7 nominations; Fire Island won 3 of 5 nominations; Glass Onion won 3 of 16 nominations; The Menu won 3 of 5 nominations; Marcel the Shell with Shoes On won 2 of 3 nominations; The Lost City won 2 of 11 nominations; and The Whale won 2 of 2 nominations. The biggest shutout was The Banshees of Inisherin, which lost all nine of its nominations.
