2020 Cosmo nominations are open

Cosmo nominations for 2020 are now open, and ballots are due by Friday, June 18, 2021

After COVID caused Oscar delays, and procrastination caused even more Cosmo delays, nomination ballots for the 2020 Cosmique Movie Awards are finally open. Nominations are cast online, and must be completed by Friday, June 18, 2021.

The entire global movie industry was disrupted by COVID-19, and movie awards like the Oscars (and consequently the Cosmos) were forced to adjust. With theaters closed, the Oscars were forced to include films released on Internet streaming platforms like Netflix and HBO rather than in theaters. Because many producers delayed release of their films, hoping an end to COVID would allow for a proper theatrical release, the Oscars were forced to extend their calendar through the end of February 2021.

The Cosmo calendar is therefore similarly adjusted to accept films released theatrically or online between January 1, 2020 through February 28, 2021. We have posted a list of eligible films to help you make your decisions.

Some reminders:

  • For every award, we’ve included a list of “buzzworthy” nominees. These include nominees for other awards, additional potential nominees on pundits’ prediction lists, and our own ideas. As always, you are not constrained by these “buzzworthy” suggestions and are free to nominate any eligible film or performance that you think is worthy.
  • For each award, you may nominate up to six different films or performances. You cannot duplicate your nomination for the same award.
  • Passion still counts. For each award, you may choose to cast an optional Power Vote for one of your nominees for that award. That nomination will count extra when we tally the results.
  • We know this can be a little overwhelming. You do not need to complete all six nomination slots for each award if there are only a few that inspire you, and you are free to skip entire categories if you choose.
  • With more high-profile films than ever available on streaming services, you may have had a chance to see more award-nominated films than ever. Even so, don’t feel like you need to have seen all of the award-nominated films to judge. The Cosmos are as much about what we were drawn to see as they are about what we loved that we saw. And if you haven’t seen anything new, you can always vote in the Lifetime Achievement awards.
  • Ballots are organized into five sections, and each section is a separate web form. Be sure to check out all five.
  • If you include your name and email address, you can email us to change any nominations you wish before the June 18th deadline.
  • Please feel free to encourage like-minded friends and family members to vote as well. To learn more about us, check out our voting requirements and history.

Here are the ballots.
